BEHIND THE BAR

Kootenay Tallow Bar came to be as an answer to something I was searching for: pure, organic, medicinal skincare made with ingredients I could trust.

When I discovered tallow - first as a nutrient-dense food, then as a traditional ingredient for skin - it just made sense. It felt familiar, natural, and surprisingly effective. I couldn’t believe that suet, once prized, is now so often discarded, along with all that incredible nourishment. When I work with tallow, I’m often in awe of the energy that flows from it. It feels like liquid sunshine, born of water, grass, and sunlight.

Each balm and bar is made by hand in small batches using thoughtfully sourced tallow from local farms and a blend of natural ingredients chosen for their nourishing and medicinal qualities. Some are wildcrafted here in the Kootenays, and others are chosen to embody the seasonal energy and landscape that inspires me.

That’s what’s behind the bar: clean, handmade skincare grounded in tradition and real nourishment.
