The Inspiration

We start noticing early blue violets and their lush green leaves appearing on the forest floor in early May. For our 2026 release, we were lucky enough to stumble upon two additional varieties of wild violet during a hike in the mountains near our home in the Slocan Valley: stream violet and Canada violet.

We gather the leaves especially for their traditional skin-cooling, softening and soothing qualities. Violet leaf is naturally rich in mucilage, giving it a comforting feel, while flavonoids, polyphenols and saponins contribute to its long-standing use as a gentle, skin-supportive and lymph-supportive herb.  These qualities make it well suited to sensitive and delicate skin, and the inspiration for this tallow eye balm.

We infuse the dried leaves and flowers, along with wild yarrow blossoms, into our tallow rendered from locally sourced, pasture-raised beef suet here in the Kootenays. Yarrow, traditionally known to help soothe and support irritated skin, adds a wildflower meadow-like scent: fresh, green and lightly floral.

Wild Violet is a simple, 100% natural eye balm made for the sensitive and delicate skin around the eyes. It is a beautiful alternative to conventional eye creams, made with traditional fats, wild-harvested botanicals and clean, recognizable ingredients.

Key Ingredients

• Wild Violet Infused Tallow: A seasonal, whole-plant infusion of wild-gathered violet leaves and blossoms (stream violet, Canada violet and early blue violet), slow-infused into our pasture-raised tallow from local Kootenay farms. Traditionally valued for its cooling, softening and soothing effect on sensitive and delicate skin.
• Wild Yarrow: Gathered from the Kootenay landscape and used for its traditional skin-soothing and supportive qualities. Contributes the soft, meadow-like scent that gives this balm its character.
• Jojoba Oil: A lightweight, skin-compatible oil that improves glide and absorbs smoothly. Well suited to the thin, delicate skin of the eye area.
• Beeswax: Adds gentle structure and a protective finish to help seal in lasting moisture without heaviness.
